Do now web 2.0 writing prompt

You are the teacher; which class would you add to our school curriculum that we don’t already have?
When would the class meet, what would the students do? What would it look like, feel like, and sound like?  And what would the students produce to show/demonstrate their learning?
         A class i would introduce to the curriculum is video gaming sessions. The class will meet last period every 3 out of 5 days because last period is the most relaxing period and when you play a game you should be relaxed. What would the students do? the students will be grouped up in teams of four and will have to vs other team of four students to win. If you win the game you get ten points if you loose you get 5. The objective of the game is to work together so survive in a hunger game like game where you will have to work together inorder to play this will form bonds among students. What would it feel like? it will be relaxing the students will be set up with eight computers at a time in an enviorment they feel suitable.There is no screaming at eachother aloud or cursing so students can feel good.
        What would the students produce or demostrate their learning? first gaming helps hand eye cordinating and opens the mind to more imagination. The students will be tested on how well they work together to win the game. The key objective in this curriculum is to bring students closer and to show that together as a team you can win. By playing a twenty min match the students will talk among themselvs on how they can work together. Every two weeks the student will have a test against another team on not if they win but they will get points on how well they work together. If one student is not working together with the other three he will fail. The students will choose the game they want to play it would either be a surviving game to teach them how to survive or a non violent game that they can work together in.

My Opinion: I think these earphones look really cool and sound nice but the cost is alot for a new unpopular pair of earphones and the name isn't really selling.

web 2.0: Wiki Research

1. How can a wiki be used in a current class on your schedule (not this course)? Pick a class and be specific how the class could create and use a Wiki on a regular basis (tip: Use the Internet, here is a good source).                                                                                                                                   A1: Wiki can be used in my world history class. Ms. Garvin always gives group projects where you don't get alot of class time to do it so you have to finish it at home and work with your partner. This can be a task for some groups that live far away for example if a Wood-Ridge student gets paired up with a moonachie student. They don't live near each other to go over their house and do it together so they need a method to work together easily. A wiki can be a good idea if they need to get work together done. In a wiki they both can edit the page and add their ideas.
2. What are the benefits of using a wiki in class?                                                                                           A2: the benefits of using a wiki in class is getting students to come together to work on a same page that they can edit together. A wiki in class can help educational learning.
3. How can we create a wiki in this class, what would we contribute to it and how would we utilize it on an on-going basis?                                                                                                                                  A3: We can create a wiki in this class by going on a website that offers free wiki domains. Every day going around the circle a student would add a question after class on what the don't understand, the next day the next student answers it using edit.
4. What experience do you have using or creating wikis                                                                              A4: In Ms. Garvin's class the students are paired up in groups of two and make a wiki using wikidot.com

My weekend

On Friday Wood-Ridge varsity football had a game vs Harrison. As part of the team I was there. I had my football gear on and I was very cold. In a 14-7 win we beat Harrison. Saturday was a easy day, I rested and played Xbox with friends we played alot of diffrent kinds of games on my xbox 360 and xbox one. Also, I played hide and seek in the dark with my brothers. Sunday i went to church in the morning with my mom and brothers and on the ride back we got pizza. We then went to my cousins birthday party it was fun. At the party there was a vanilla cake that was shaped as a football. All my family was at the family and i even met some family that i never met. Sunday night i prepared for my football game on Monday and got all of my homework done and studied for my quiz.

Project Leviathan

A group of students from the university of sherbrooke in canada are working on a watercraft vehicle to break world records.

Project Leviathan is estimated to go at a speed of 23 miles per hour on water.

The team has spent a total of $30,000 dollars on this project.

The watercraft is controlled by a pedaling system similar to a bike

The vehicle is powered by human pedaling that drives a propeller in the water, the twin hulled-craft with two wings to gain speed.

The first test run will be in 2015.

The new alienware desktop computer is a gaming desktop with a 16gb ram it can play any computer game smoothly. Alienware company has always been into making gaming computers. Personally i would get this computer because it is very fast and a new generation of computers is the alienware. The alienware X51 hits the market in July 2014.

What is an editorial? an editorial is an opinion piece. Editorials are supposed to reflect the opinion of peridical?(a magazine or newspaper published at regular intervals).                                    For example sometimes my web 2.0 teacher tells us to give the opinion on what you think of or my spanish teacher makes us say our opinion if we write a paper. It is someone writing an opinion on a topic. For example, every week in web 2.0 we do a weekly blog posting on a product ( technology based) and at the end i put a editorial a personal opinion about what i have based my blog posting about.

            Mainly all of my teachers that i have to research and write a report have told me to not use the wikipedia because it is unreliable. My teachers have informed me to stay away from it because not all of the information provided on it is reliable. For example, it can say that the civil war was in the 1934's because anyone can edit it. In my old school the english teacher did not count the work if you used information from the wikipedia.

           Do teachers allow you to use wikipedia as a source? yes, my teachers let me use it as a form of research. My teachers let me use it as a source because it is a good start. They say to get some information on it but not to base your entire paper on it because some of it can be false. Some of my teachers don't let me use it because they say it is not as reliable as other sites can be and won't grade your work if you do use it.

           After reading the article my thoughts of wikipedia has changed. It said in the article that hundred of thousands students use wikipedia and class rooms. Normally i use wikipedia but not as a reliable source but then it said in the article that over five-hundred class rooms use wikipedia printed out pages to teach their class rooms. I did not know that wikipedia can be so reliable and used so much by people, personally i thought of wikipedia as a last resort or maybe even a second option. Now that i know wikipedia is so used and ''relied'' on i will consider relying on wikipedia as a first source or a starting point in a research paper.

The teacher i have for english is Ms. Hunter, Ms. Hunter is a nice understanding teacher that really interacts with the students. If you have a question you ask Ms. Hunter and she will happily answer the question and show you with detail what to do. She is also very forgiving and if you have a problem Ms. Hunter will help you.
  When i first stepped into the classroom and class first started i wanted to learn how to be able to write an essay that has no errors and is on task and well done. Also i wanted to learn how to read longer without getting bored to death. What i have learned so far? I have learned how to correctly format an essay but so far it isn't perfect. I hope to keep working on that in the future. Besides the summer reading we have not done a task when we had to read a book so i have not yet learned how to read without getting bored to quick and not wanting to finish the book.
           Ms. Hunter grades with a system out of 100 for example if you did bad you got a 48/100 she also uses a rubric on h w you performed, how many paragraphs and spelling and grammar.The most intresting aspect of Ms. Hunter's classroom is how she interacts with the students and for me that makes it very enjoyable. Ms. Hunter really goes one on one with the students and will take her time to help a single student. We haven't gotten the e-books yet so technolgy is just writing with pencil and she writes on the board. So far their has been no use of technology in her class room. I hope to learn alot of new things and be able to think great ideas befor the school year ends and i don't have her anymore because she is an only freshmen teacher.

Educational Technology and Copyright Law

I learned about fair use and what copyright is from the article Educational Technology and Copyright Law. For example i learned that mainly anything that you write or publish has to be copyrighted or it can be stolen. I learned that it doesn't matter if you thought of it first it has to be written down. For fair use i learned that if you want to use someones work you have to give credit to the owner. For example taking someones work and using it as your own is illegal but taking someones work and using it to teach a class if fair use. It's fair use if you use it to educate. When you are in a class room and you do an amazing work of art and the teacher decides to use it for an example to teach a class. You might think that isn't fair but it is part of fair use. You can only use a certain amount of a video too.

New Game Evolve Big Hit?

Announced in January but later delayed to February of 2015 this new game for play station four proved to be such a hit with ratings of 4-5 stars it had gamers ready to play. Delayed for the holiday rush to February 2015 and to do extra work made gamers even more exited. Evolve is a 5 player game where four of the players are trying to hunt down and kill the fifth player the monster.  One of the most anticipated games this year hopefully it will prove up to its expectations. Personally i can't wait till it comes. Also, with matches that can reach up to an hour it can be a letdown. In my opinion the longer the game or match the more fun it is and strategic.
